Raise Fund For DCCF Rural Farm Project for Widows Empowerment
PROGRAM PLAN
Dorcas Corner Charity Foundation Rural Farm Project (DCCFRFP) is an empowerment and employment program orchestrated by Mr. Nelson Omale Matthew. The project intends to create employment opportunities for Nigerian widows living in rural areas, that will in turn allow them earn a living and sustain themselves and their children. DCCFRFP, unlike other empowerment programs, provides an on-the-job training that allows widows with no farming experience learn all that is required and needed to farm ginger and garlic on a 10 hectare land in Kogi state, Nigeria, harvest them, sell them and make money from those sales. The project does not intend to be a one-time thing or occasional farming project but rather an all year round farm project that allows for the sustenance and livelihood of Nigerian widows in rural areas.

NEEDS FOR THE DORCAS CORNER
CHARITY FOUNDATION RURAL FARM
PROJECT
● Reduction of unemployment: The
major goal of DCCFRFP is to reduce
the high rate
of unemployment among Nigerian
widows living in rural areas. Rather
than
becoming a burden to themselves and
the society, DCCFRFP will provide
employment
opportunities in the field of
agriculture and farming for them.
This way, these widows
will then be able to feed, clothe
and cater for themselves and meet
their individual
needs.
● Promotion of Education: Sometimes
following the death of their fathers
and their
mothers becoming widows, some
children are forced to kill their
educational dreams
and become school dropouts. This is
often as a result of their mother’s
inability to
shoulder the role of ‘providers’ and
‘head of the family’ to sponsor
their children’s
education. This inability is tied
greatly to idleness and joblessness
of these widows.
DCCFRFP aims to correct this wrong
by allowing widows a chance to be
financially
stable enough to provide not only
for themselves but for their
children too.
● Skill Acquisition: DCCFRFP will
offer an on-the-job training to
widows who have little
or no experience where agriculture
and farming is concerned. This will
enable them
to acquire and master the skill of
farming overtime. While those who
already have
existing knowledge on farming will
use this opportunity to broaden
their horizon on
harvesting and sales of farm
produce.
